Team WhittleFit racing roundup - 17th & 18th June 2017

This past weekend we had lots of WhittleFit athletes racing, from the Scilly Isles, to Denmark, to Italy and beyond, lets see how they got on:

  • ÖtillÖ Scilly Isles swim/run: Coach Lawrence and his wife, Laura, raced as a team in the Scilly Isles in the new sport of swim/run. They both raced exceptionally well (and are still married) to come home as the 5th mixed team and 23rd team overall!
  • Titan Triathlon: The Titan Middle Distance Triathlon at Bryn Bach Parc was simply stunning this weekend, but this made for tough race conditions for Angharad, Martyn and Rich. The tough course and tropical weather made for testing times, but everyone came through with flying colours, well done all!
  • Windsor Olympic Triathlon: Paul Fairclough, coached by Henry, raced with Windsor Castle as a backdrop (very nice!) and came home in 2hr50mins, nice work Paul!   
  • Windsor Sprint Triathon: Julian raced the Windor Sprint Triathlon this weekend and managed a time of 1hr40mins in very hot conditions!
  • Trail Marathon Wales: Johnny Phillips raced possibly the most picturesque race this weekend, with the Trail Marathon Wales race at Coed y Brenin Forest Park in Snowdonia. We’re very jealous at WhittleFit HQ of this race, so congrats Johnny for completing such a stunning trail race!
  • European Sprint Triathlon Champs: Unfortunately, Stu Fraser took a tumble on the bike in Kitzbuhel, he was a bit banged up but he reports that he should be back in action in 4-6 weeks. Heal fast Stu!
  • Ironman 70.3 Staffs: We had a few athletes racing at Staffs this weekend, with James Peters and Luke England setting PB’s and Sarah Jones smashing it on her 70.3 debut, well done all!
  • Ironman 70.3 Pescara: Doug Shaw raced the new 70.3 triathlon in Italy and it seems that Italy was a having a similar heatwave to the UK! Unfortunately Doug recorded a DNF, but I’m sure he’ll be back as strong as ever soon enough!
  • Ironman 70.3 Denmark: Craig Patterson raced the European 70.3 Champs on the weekend and had a great race, securing a slot at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs to be held in Chattanooga, USA on the 9th September, well done Craig!
